First Day, First Grade

The past few weeks David and I have been impatient, and maybe a little more snippy than usual with one another. What does that have to do with First Grade, you ask? We both have been worrying over this day for all kinds of reasons that probably only make sense to us. Honestly, I was dreading sending him off to public school.

But Jackson, well, he couldn't wait. Couldn't wait to ride his bike to school, run in the gym, go to the music, art, & science rooms, eat in the cafeteria, play on the playground, all those things you do in a big, public school. Of course the first place he wanted to go on meet the teacher day was the gym. He ran. He jumped and counted the basket ball hoops. He noticed that there were more OU than OSU posters...

We walked to school today. Jack led the way on his bike. We walked into school the three of us holding hands. Jackson had a huge smile on his face. In the classroom Jackson picked a seat at a table with three boys (last year out of 6 kids, there were only 2 boys in his class), started playing blocks, and let me kiss his fuzzy little head goodbye. No tears (pretty impressive, mom!). I can feel the anxiety being replaced with excitement for our little guy who is off on a new adventure.
Happy first day of First Grade, big boy!
