Kickin' Shoes & Stories from the Weekend

As usual, the kids provided us with great amusement this weekend. We all went into a local Halloween store to find some spiders for a project J and I are doing. On the checkout counter there was this nasty little baby ghoul, all bloody with rats gnawing on it. Our sweet little baby girl pointed to it and said: "Baby Jesus." The lady behind the counter started laughing and said, "now THAT I have never heard anyone say!" Horrified, we left and then headed straight to Mardel's to fill the kids' heads with wholesome images.

This weekend was a big weekend for Oklahoma football and our family LOVES football. I usually don't get to watch OU or TU football around here, but this weekend I got to watch/listen to both. After fussing to my dad on the phone about the OU game, my son had these supportive words to comfort me: "Texas won because OU stinks." I don't have to tell any of you faithful readers that my son is crazy about OSU. The big OSU upset happened after J had already gone to bed. When he woke up I told him: "Guess what J...OSU won last night!" Jackson: "I KNOW!" There was never any doubt in his mind that they'd win. He has all the games he has tickets for cataloged in his head and went over them out loud in the car for us today...Houston, Troy ("the swords"), A&M ("the angels"). Crazy OSU fans. :)

I have faithfully been keeping up with my running in preparation for my first 5K in a couple of weeks. I haven't had a chance to get out and buy a new pair of running shoes and have been "making due" with an old pair. After confessing to David that I thought my shoes were causing extra aches and pains he took me out tonight to pick out a new pair. I couldn't wait to get home and try them out. They are heavenly. I busted out of the house on my evening run and felt like a new woman.
