No Sew Tutu
Tracey, this is for you. Hope Miss Kayln loves her tutu!
1. Buy tulle in color & length desired. For the little girl versions I've made, 3-4 yards work great. It just depends on how fuffy you want it.2. Spread fabric out. You will have to determine the width you want. The tutus I've made I have folded the fabric in half lengthwise and then cut down the fold. Now you will have two pieces of fabric. If you are using 2 shades/colors, do this with the second piece of tulle and lay on top of the other cut pieces.
3. Cut fabric into 2 inch strips (along short side). It helps to lay something heavy (I use coasters, books, etc.) to keep the uncut pieces in place while you cut.
4. Cut a piece of ribbon (I use 1 inch thick) to fit child's waist. Make sure to allow enough to tie a bow.
5. Take cut strips, fold in half and loop around ribbon. For a fluffier tutu, you will want to use 3-4 strips per loop. Pull the ends of the strips through the loop. Pull tight. It helps to tie the ends of the ribbon to chair legs, etc to keep it taut. (I usually sit on the floor, so I use my feet! Sorry, no picture of that!)6. Repeat until desired length is reached. To end it, I just tie a knot on each side to make sure the loops don't slip down. I like a shabbier tutu, but it you can also trim the ends with scissors to get it more of a clean cut look. Here's the orange and black tutu I made for Addie. I've made a million of these...but this is the only picture I have. I used 3 different materials: black, orange, and a glitter orange. Probably about 2 yards of each.

Thank you so much for the instructions. I will have to let you know how it turns out. Now I have to find the time to make it. Between starting the new job, school, and Bart's new job - we have been a bit tired around here!! I will post pics when I finally get the chance to make it. She is going to be so cute!
