Out with a Bang

Before I get started, here is the link to pictures from Christmas & birthdays

What a very busy Christmas season we have had! This was our first Christmas as a family of four...and it was wonderful. Both of the kids' birthdays are very near Christmas (Jack's three days before, and Addie's three days after) so we celebrated with a big party on the 22nd. Jack had a grand time of course, and Addie seemed to tolerate all the people and noise with all the gracefulness a shy one-year old could muster.

Next came our three days of Christmas with our families. This year was especially fun for us now that Jack is old enough to add his own twists to traditions we have forced on him the past few years, like... leaving cookies out for Santa. He and David arranged on a plate, some cookies we had baked for especially for Santa (Dad's favorite), a slice of left over birthday cake, and a Kolache from a recent Ross men cooking extravaganza. They made a glass of chocolate milk and set it all near the fireplace. A while later after David had already tucked Jack into bed several times, Jack called his Dad into his room and asked him to put one of his toy planes on the plate for Santa to take to the poor kids. Oh, how sweet. It wasn't ten mintues later that Jack called for David again. This time, to ask David to please remove the airplane, he didn't want Santa to take it after all.

And then came a visit to Oma & Opa's. We had a nice visit and beautiful weather. David, of course, went to Arizona for the OSU/IU bowl game (he wore red, if you can believe that). After getting home from our trip, I turned the game on and Jackson suited up in his OSU gear. He started asking questions about why "Dad wasn't watching with us" and I finally told him that Dad was AT the game. He considered this for a bit and then walked over to the TV, turned it off, and told me, "I'm all done watching." He's a little spoiled as far as OSU football game attendance goes...

And then came...New Year's. We are very excited to see what is in store for us in 2008.

Addie with her Opa. (Or as Jackson has started calling him: "the Opa that was shot down by the Japanese")

We got Jack a digital camera for Christmas...he took this great picture of John with it

Oh Sarah,

Your children are just lovely! What fun the two of them must be together. It is amazing how Addie has changed. Reading your blog makes me feel like I know them. I was glad to see your updates after the big ice storm--what a horrible mess.

Lilly's first word was cup, followed by yum-yum and cat. We've yet to hear mama.
