Giving Thanks

I'm thankful for...Hand, Foot, & Mouth Disease. Yep. My little girl has exactly that--just in time for Thanksgiving. She's feeling pretty good from what we can tell right now, so we're crossing our fingers that this will turn out to be a "light" case, and that Jackson doesn't come down with it too. We're also hoping that we'll be able to go ahead with our travel plans for Thanksgiving, but realize we may be home with sick kids instead. Life's kind of like that sometimes...

A cute Jack story: Sunday's craft during Sunday school was decorating a cross with fall leaves. Jack's teacher asked him what he was thankful for and wrote it on one of the leaves. It said: "Addie." I'll have to save that one.

Playing outside later that same day, I asked Jackson what he was thankful for and he had a different answer for me: "sand, balls, & Poopa."

On the way to my grandparent's house in Claremore, there is a surface mine where they are actively "blasting" for coal. As we neared it last week, I got irritated that traffic was stopped for no apparent reason. It only took a couple of minutes for me to realize why...I just happened to be looking in the right direction when a blast went off and rocks went flying. I was so excited to see it. Nearly as good as my business trip to the Henderson Molybdenum Mine in Colorado many moons ago. What a nerd. Anyway, I digress. I am thankful for the little traffic stop--and the little spark of excitement for this geology nerd, turned mom.
